BE MORE CONSCIOUS OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS
“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.” (1 Corinthians 15:34 KJV)
Do the righteous fall? Yes! Righteous people fall. Does that mean I should not care how I live my life? Of course not! If you live your life carelessly and say that God has given you grace, then you do not understand grace at all. I will even doubt if you are a Christian. You became a sinner not because you sinned; you became a sinner because Adam sinned. He was our representative and what he got, we got also. You became righteous because our eternal representative Jesus also died to take away your sins. So what Jesus has, you can have.
What do I mean by Righteous people fall? Proverbs 24:16 says: “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.” According to Psalms 37:23-24, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” And so we understand that good people fall. But when you condemn yourself, accuse yourself and judge yourself, you end up not getting what Jesus paid for on your behalf.
Good people fall. The righteous falls, but he rises. In order words when you fall, the Holy Spirit will pick you up because you are connected to God. He can’t leave you there because you have accepted your identity. We have an adversary who wants us to fall. The Holy Spirit who knows that you are bearing witness with the truth holds you up. According to 1 John 2:1, the ideal thing is that you don’t go hunting for sin. Do not say that now I am under grace, I am free; let me now do what I want. I have been waiting to do it. Now Brother Mike has given me license. Wrong! When you are righteousness conscious, you will not go hunting for sin; sin shall not have dominion over you.
