BE ESTABLISHED IN HIM
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him; rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV)
Beloved, the days are gone when as a believer you still play church. Today, the devil is out of his closet. He is roaming the streets in full view, not being secretive about his person or assignment. The incidences of evil manifestations around the world are alarming. And just as the Bible said, the church is not left out. There is a prevalence of many wolves dressed as sheep. There are false prophets and teachers standing behind the sacred desk and desecrating God’s altars. It is both alarming painful. But the most unfortunate thing is that many will be deceived by these false prophets and magicians that we see all over the place and fall as prey to the enemy. That is what the Bible says. So, the question is: “How can you escape this corruption that is in the world today?” The answer is to be rooted and established in Him. That’s the only way.
From the scripture today, Apostle Paul admonished the Colossian church that having received Christ, to follow the path that He has laid down, in general, life conduct and behavior. Here the believer is likened to a tree. A tree of righteousness! The word “rooted” in this context means “to become stable”. So, what was the scripture saying? That as a believer, recognize that Christ is your root. And you derive all your life, nourishment, and fruitfulness from Him, as long as you remain in Him.
Beloved, if you are going to be deeply rooted, continually built up, and established in the faith, then you must be taught. God in His wisdom has raised bible believing churches as a platform for equipping His people. So that you are continually built, deeply rooted, and established in the knowledge of Him. These are the things that will ensure that you do not fall as a prey in these last days. God will come through for you, and you shall not see shame.
