BE CONSISTENT
“And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.” Genesis 26:8 (KJV)
What is God telling you? Do you think that it takes anything for God to speak to you? It is nothing! God wants to speak to you daily. The issue is that some of us have an idea of how God can speak. God can speak through a man. God can speak through testimonies. God can speak through music. That is why you should be sensitive when you come to church. Stop every form of distraction because you want to hear God and have the next directive for your life. One Word from God is enough to turn things around in your life.
The Word of God works. If you are not seeing the result, it is because you have refused to work on it. Isaac obeyed what God said. Nothing has changed! The famine was still there, but he chose to obey. That should be the attitude of believers.
Notice that Isaac didn’t wax great overnight. He stayed there! He refused to allow his senses to limit him. Everything around him was crying impossible! How are you going to make it? But he obeyed! And according to our scriptural text, he remained there for a long time. He remained in the same place where there was famine. He was planting and planting. He didn’t just wax great. He was consistent. He stayed there and would not change because what God told him had not changed.
Isaac had staying power. He stayed there. Probably he kept on sowing and sowing with no result yet. But he kept at it! And God came through for him. Many believers jump ship because they look at the wind. They look at the challenges all around them.
Stay there! Don’t jump ship. God will honour His Word. You will become proficient. You will become excellent if you stay. You will excel as you stay at what God has called you to do. You will learn through experience. And God will honour your consistency.
