BE CLOTHED WITH HUMILITY

BE CLOTHED WITH HUMILITY

“Likewise ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5 KJV

The believer is called to function from the place of submission. We should submit to one another. There comes a time that I should submit to your superior suggestion. There comes a time that you submit. If we submit to one another like that, there will be no problem. There is not one person who knows it all. Each of us has a part to play. You have your part, I have my part and when we connect to the whole part, according to Ephesians 4:16, we are all edified and we are all built up. It is not a solo assignment. That is why when you become saved, God puts you in the Body and then puts you in the Church. And not only that, He fits you into where you are best fitted to be able to function.

So every one of us should submit to one another just like the human body. The eye is submitting. The tongue submits. The legs, the hands, the feet, the organs, the central organs and the reproductive organs, they all submit so as to become effective. Every part is important.

The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:6: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” The reason why you have not been exalted is that you are too full of yourself. Get rid of yourself. Look unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith. Get rid of yourself. Be delivered from yourself. Jesus is all and all. Don’t come to God based on your effort. That is pride. Come to God based on what He has done. Come on the authority of what Christ has done on your behalf. Don’t come to Him flaunting your credentials. Humble yourself so you can be exalted.
