ASK GOD FOR DIVINE WISDOM
“Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?” 1 Kings 3:9 (KJV)
Many times people get into leadership and think that the same things that work in the environment would secular work in the Church. Beloved, God has raised you as a leader and not a manager and the truth is that you cannot do it alone. The Church is a blend of people from different backgrounds, tribe, professions etc. So as a leader, you need the wisdom of God to direct you.
Do not attempt to lead people based on your past experience or intellectual capacity alone. It is not about what you know, it is about who is following you. Remember, if you are leading and no one is following, you are only taking a walk (John Maxwell); so don’t take a walk, truly lead.
Why do you need divine wisdom? It is only God that knows where each person is and what you need to connect with the people. For people to follow you willingly, you must, first of all, connect with them. Remember that you can force a horse to the river, but you cannot force it to drink. In the same way, you cannot force those the Lord has committed into your hands to follow you if you do not receive from Him the wisdom to deal with them per time. The fact that people are dynamic makes it more important to rely on God for direction every step of the way because the same words that calmed a situation down today can aggravate a similar situation the next day. So, as a leader, you must live by the proceeding word of God.
Make it a point of duty to pray for those you lead and pray for the wisdom to lead them aright and the Lord will grant your request.
