YOUR DEPTH DETERMINES YOUR HEIGHT

“And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.” (2 Kings 19:30 KJV)

Yesterday, we looked at being deeply rooted and established in Christ. However, there are different levels to being rooted. The parable of the sower in Mark 4:2-8, gives us insight to these different levels. 
The first set of seeds had no roots at all and were devoured by birds. The second, fell upon a rock, developed shallow roots and with time, withered away due to lack of moisture and nutrients to sustain the plant. The third, even though it had taken roots deeper than the second, struggled to grow and was eventually subdued. Because the thorns had developed deeper roots than the plant and as a result, they cut short its supply of nutrients. However, the fourth set developed deep roots which enabled the plant to not only spring up but bear fruits. 
Oftentimes, we see trees only on the surface. But do you realise how deep some of these trees go in order to rise to the heights that you see on the surface? It is said concerning the wild fig tree that its greatest reported depth is 400 feet. Can you imagine that? So what does this mean? The degree to which you know Christ, and are rooted in Him, determines your stability and fruitfulness. It determines whether or not you will be swept away by the philosophies and vain deceits of this age that are modelled after world patterns and not Christ. 
Beloved, be conversant with and confident about what makes you a bible believing Christian. Avail yourself the opportunity of going through Bible study classes where you will get to learn about what you should believe as a child of God. And then find your place of calling within, where you can serve. These are the things that will ensure that you are not a prey in these last days. 

Don’t be a fair-weather Christian or an arm-chair critic, always seeing what is not being done or not being done right, yet you do nothing yourself. Get involved and experience the blessing of service.
