GOD DOES NOT WANT YOU TO BE FOOLISH

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,” Ephesians 5:15

The book of Ephesians is Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus. The book tells us of our inheritance in Christ. As a church it tells us of all that Christ did for us on the cross. It shares with us our position in Christ and our weapons of war. But in verse 15 of chapter 5 it says: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”

God does not want you to be foolish. He does not want any of his child to walk in ignorance or be foolish, not knowing what to do. Because of the adversary that we contend with, the society we live in is configured in such a way that almost everyone is placed under stress. There is anxiety all over the place. And in the atmosphere of confusion, it is difficult to make a good decision. But if you must take the right decision, the peace of God has to be your umpire. And the intension of the enemy is to make you do the wrong thing when you are under pressure.
But here Paul, writing to the church said, I don’t want you to be foolish or unwise. He said “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.” The word circumspectly there means to be watchful and cautious with yourself. It talks about prudence and being careful with oneself. It talks about being observant and calculative, not walking anyhow. It means being meticulous or vigilant, being alert so that the devil does not take you unawares.

You will be surprised how many people have taken the wrong decision because they were under pressure. It may be okay for the world to take wrong decisions over certain things but not so for the church. God does not want us to be foolish but to walk circumspectly not as fools but as wise. Like it or not, occasion will come when you need to take some decision; about family, business, job, ministry or medical issue.
